Have two here from today's opening to the Caribbean. The first is a SS 96.7, presumed from Cuba, that was also // on 99.3. My ears aren't the best but I believe I hear a "Radio Rebelde" ID in the clip at :34? I see a match for 96.7, does anyone know who that would be on 99.3? This was at about 1225.
Secondly, I have no ID on this one and it probably can't be salvaged, but before the Cuban 96.7 came in, I had this lively preacher in EE on 96.7, also e-skip, mixing with the Cuban that later took over the the channel and WRDW's IBOC. I have absolutely no idea who this could be. PTA was Cuba and Bahamas at the time, not a trace of anything from FL. This was at around 1210-1215. Perhaps someone might recognize something. As always any help is much appreciated. |

Maybe I am premature in replying here, as I am at work and cannot hear these until I get home....
Indeed there is a Rebelde from La Habana on 96.7. There are no Class A's and higher on 96.7 in FL (amazing as that seems), but there are many LPFMs, translators, etc. www.radio-locator.com gives more info.....I believe that a few are run by churches & may have preachers. Maybe a few of them have web sites and/or stream. I will try to play these around midnight.... cd |

Thanks Humberto, cd, and Jim for the help on Rebelde!
As for the other 96.7, I did see the religious translators listed in FL...it really would shock me though, as I had nothing from FL in during the duration of this opening until the very end, not even the ever-present WMGE. The most possible one looks like W244BD 96.7 Stuart at 800 (!?!) watts, but they relay WAYF, and isn't Way-FM CCM all the time (as opposed to preaching)? The one Caribbean possibility I saw was ZVIC 96.7 in the Turks & Caicos, which is about 1270 miles from here, within Es range, that appears to be on the air with religious programming from the Moody network: http://www.mbn.org/genmoody/media/me...oss_nation.pdf But, either way this will likely stay unID'd. |

If it is any help, that preacher is Dr. Tony Evans from Dallas. www.tonyevans.org I think it is. Check his affiliate list (if there is any on the site----I know Moody stations carry him), and match up the time you heard it. Aside from an ID, that's all I can lead you to.

Just to update this thread...today received a really nice e-mail from a Moody senior representative (also posted it to the list). Based on the fact no other Moody affiliates/stations in the U.S. that air the Tony Evans program match the frequency and time I had the reception from the information I could gather online, it looks like it was indeed ZVIC.
Hi Nick. Your e-mail was forwarded on to me here in our Moody Radio – Network Development area, where we keep in touch with all of our Moody Radio affiliates. Radio station ZVIC is located in the Turks and Caicos Islands, with studios and transmitter in Providenciales. They are operating on 96.7 MHz with about 800-watts of power these days, having turned down their transmitter from 1,000 watts a few months ago in an effort to conserve electricity. This radio station operates un-manned for the most part and rebroadcasts pretty much the entire MB1 satellite program schedule, a copy of which I have attached as a PDF file for your reference. I recently spoke to the owner and manager of the station and I was able to update some of our database records on the station, including the fact that ZVIC is in the Eastern Time zone. However, I neglected to ask if their nation observes daylight saving time. But from your report and program description, it would appear that THE ALTERNATIVE with Dr. Tony Evans was the program on your audio clip and it does air weekdays at 11:00 a.m., CDT (12noon, Eastern Time - daylight saving time, too) on our MB1 satellite channel, which is used for radio programming by over 440 affiliated stations across the US and some international outlets. So your report helps me to confirm that Turks and Caicos does observe daylight saving time as well. So, I believe you should now have sufficient information and documentation to confirm your audio clip identification. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call me toll-free at 1-800-621-7031 or reply to this e-mail. Thanks again, David P.
